  2. すばらしい!!!Especially the second one. I think 「ホームワーク」 perfectly fits here. It explains you are studying somewhere in an English-speaking environment outside Japan. But Japanese studetns can understand exactly how you feel... because they also spend sleepless nights with lots of 『宿題」。This senryu is something that only you can write, and I like it a lot!

I picked up the phrase ながいよる from an anime I recently watched, バケモノガタリ, and liked it. And it related rather well to my college life and work, for better for worse. I was pretty pleased when ホームワーク fit the meter since しゅくだい did not, but it seems to have fit even better than anticipated in its meaning. Thanks! I hope that Japanese students don't stay up as long as I sometimes do... @_@ Let us all work hard together! ^_^

  5. I agree with the above comments,

The second one is great. In response to Aki's comment, it is almost comforting to know that across the world our peers are also facing sleepless nights. Were not alone.

  6. Stephen-san,

I hope I didn't miss something, my phone sometimes sends me sms or voicemail days afterwards. anyway, I'm going to be horribly pressed for time at the beginning of this week, how do you feel about meeting late nights Tuesday and/or Wednesday? I figure we'll all be up anyway and Lerner is open until 1 at least. If we can avoid it, that's great but I have a feeling we'll be too busy. My uni is sar2160 so we can collaberate via the interweb.

    @ Alie
I mostly put it there to fit the meter. ;p Glad you like it, though. On a side note, the inspiration for that line is the song by the same name, Homework ga Owaranai by Matsuko Mawatari. It's the ending theme song for the anime Yu Yu Hakusho.

    @ Anna
    The water fell out. ;p
